| SOUTH SINAI and BEACHES |
It’s just 5 hours flight time from the UK to the Red Sea Riviera, where all -year-round sunshine is guaranteed.
Its position on the edge of the Sinai desert ensures the comfort of low humidity even on the hottest days.
From Sharm el Sheikh you can take a trip to climb Mount Sinai and watch the sun rise over the Sinai Mountains, visit St. Catherine’s Monastery, the oldest working monastery in the world and famous for the Biblical Burning Bush.
You can visit the still ‘hippy’ resort of Dahab, the Coloured canyons of Nuweiba or take a trip Cairo, Luxor or the rose city of Petra in Jordan.
The warm waters of the Red Sea are famous for their diverse and stunning marine life and coral. There are several National Parks and Reserves in the area.
Nabq boasts the world’s most northerly Mangrove Forest, and the marine reserve of Ras Mohammed, at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula, has been set up to protect this unique coastline. The reef is very close and multi-coloured fish can be seen right up to the shoreline. Snorkelling and diving are available from many beaches.
Shark’s Bay, just 8 mins away by taxi, is especially good for diving/snorkelling and water sports, and has good cafes at reasonable prices.
It’s great for people watching, and has lots of character. Many dive schools operate from here and
there are daily boat trips out to Tiran Island and ‘the wrecks’ for great diving. The boats are modern with sundecks and shaded lounges.
Try Shark’s Bay, also, for an evening meal by the water……breathtaking!
The beaches at Shark’s Bay and Horizon Sharm are served by a courtesy bus from our complex. Zouara Beach, in Nabq, is a public beach just minutes away.
There is a beach walk/bikeway. Bicycles and mini-quad bikes can be hired. Why not have a bike ride along Nabq Bay’s ‘prom’'?
At the Regency Plaza Hotel there is a Kite Surfing school owned and operated by my neighbour, Pedro. (Contact details available).
Sharm el Maya’s Terrazina beach is situated at the Old Town, at the end of the micro-bus route. Here the waters are calm and shallow, and there are plenty of water sports, Aquascopes, Glass-bottom boats etc. |
