If you have decided to visit places outside the Sharm area, ie. Dahab, Cairo, or Luxor etc. you will need a visa.
One will also be needed if your stay is over 14 days.
Visas can be obtained for $15 on arrival from the Bank/Visa booths before you pass through immigration. If your stay is over 30 days then you will be required to get your visa from the Egyptian Consulate in London (see their website) before you travel. At these bank booths you can change money into Egyptian pounds (LE), but there are plenty of banks and ATMs in all areas of Sharm.
The rate (as of December/2011) is approx. LE9.4 to £1.
Generally, I have found the rate in Egypt is better than in UK. |
